Project definition
The development of a DVD-presentation as part of an introduction package for new residents of the city Eindhoven.

Realisation
The video recording, produced on a screen with proportion 4:3, gives a general idea of the city of Eindhoven. Initially a choice can be made between an English or a Dutch version, via the interactive control menu. After this the presentation can be viewed completely or a specific item of interest can be chosen via the main menu; a general impression, housing and labour, culture and events, music, sports or technology.
For the main menu a 3D-reproduction of the Vesteda tower was drawn and cut into realistic video images. For the introduction a film was made from a stationary position, filmed on an elevated location on the outskirts of town, from dawn to dusk. Subsequently the tower is zoomed in on, then the floors are illuminated by means of animation. This is related to the subject that is chosen.
The visual material is annually screened for topicality: by drawing up an inventory it becomes clear which images (photo and video) can be re-used and for which subjects new material is needed. Especially the annually-recurring events like ‘Eindhoven Trots’, the PSV championship :-) and music festivals require current images.
